Julie Burns Lubbe was a starting guard on both the 1980 and 81 state basketball championship teams. She was a four year letter winner in basketball and not only earned all-conference honors during her career but also a 2nd Team All-State Selection by the DSM Register as well as being selected to play in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union All-Star Game in 1981. In addition to her outstanding career on the hardwood Julie also excelled in softball in which she was a five year letter winner and a 1st Team All-State Selection by the DSM Register. She helped guide the Warriors to three state summer softball tournament appearances as well as four state fall softball tournament appearances which included two state championship runner-up finishes in 1979 and 1980. Julie was also a letter winner in tennis her freshmen year and was a member of the National Honor Society for two years. Upon graduation Julie attended the University of Northern Iowa majoring in Education. Julie now resides in Las Vegas with her husband Mike and their children Emily & Brett where she is a teacher and a Jr. High Girls Basketball Coach for the past 16 years.
