Kelsey Cermak Jones, a 2007 graduate, was a driving force in assisting with another Norwalk State Championship. She was a two sport athlete competing in both tennis and basketball during her high school career. It was on the hardwood however that Kelsey left her legacy in Norwalk Girls Basketball history. Kelsey was a four year starter and letter winner and was a three time first team all-state selection as well as a McDonald’s High School All-American nominee her senior year. During her sophomore season Kelsey average 19 points a game, 7 rebounds and 3.6 steals and during her junior season she averaged 17 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2 ½ steals per game leading the Warriors to a thrilling state championship victory over the Ballard Huxley Bombers in which she averaged 15 points and 6.7 rebound per game during the tournament which included wins over Decorah in the first round and Cedar Rapids Xavier in the second round. Kelsey completed her outstanding basketball career as the Warriors all-time career scoring leader in program history with 1,751 points. After graduating Kesley accepted a scholarship to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes in which she was a team captain both her junior and senior season as well as receiving the Dr. Christine Grant Award for Leadership both of those years and was and Academic All-Big Ten selection her senior year. Kelsey is married to Ron “Popeye” Jones and they reside in Indianapolis, Indiana.
